It sounds too good to be true, but the newly opened Rumi Farms is a getaway located so close to Gurgaon that the drive takes you less than an hour – traffic permitting, of course! Nestled in the idyllic setting of Vatika Farm, Kiranki Goan and adjacent to Westin Sohna, the 1.2 acre farm house has four bedrooms, perfect for a group – whether family or friends!
“Our daily lives are exhausting and take a lot out of us and we start craving for escapism to unwind and recharge,” points out Gautam Dutta, owner, Rumi Farms, and also Co-CEO, PVR Inox Ltd. “We are thrilled to unveil this haven of comfort where one can rejuvenate and carry back memories with them. Each element and object in our property has been thoughtfully selected by us to emanate warmth and elevate one’s mood.”
He stresses that Rumi Farms is designed to be a sanctuary for trainers and participants alike, creating a space where meaningful insights and transformative experiences can flourish. Perhaps, what led to the name Rumi – a certain sense of Sufi mysticism resonates around the place, which Dutta describes as ‘fairly unorganised’. As he says, the whole idea is to ‘disconnect from our normal lives’.
The surrounding ambience is perhaps the biggest draw. Wherever you look – the sights are of endless fields – golden yellow mustard flowers especially striking at the moment, gently wandering cattle, brightly blue skies in the dapper winter sun, village elders soaking in the sun in charpais… Add the occasional chimes of the village temple, the endless chatter of avian creatures, an occasional, expressive moo from the aforementioned cows – and the milieu is about as far from the concrete urban jungle as one desires.
The farm itself is a manicured oasis. “In crafting this weekend destination resort, our architectural approach was to create a harmonious dance between nature and luxury – a symphony of design that invites guests to escape the ordinary and immerse themselves,” says Suparna Bhalla, principal architect, Abaxial, who designed Rumi Farms. “Here, every detail tells a story of serenity and sophistication.”
Expansive lawns greet you as you enter. More intimate corners have perfectly placed benches, while rockeries and shrubberies are sure to enchant! The house itself is luxuriously equipped – spacious bedrooms, done up in aesthetic interiors – note the French windows, huge mirrors, the beautiful, large upholstery, washrooms that also tempt you to take pix in them! Artworks in all shapes and sizes are all over. There is a large kitchen, well stocked in all the essentials
The getaway has a number of collaborators, including Archana Dutta, mid-life coach & founder, SecondAct (incidentally Gautam’s wife), Mandeep Merwah, a Guinness World Record holder in Crochet, and Puoja Kapur, a yoga instructor. Wellness and healing are key, stress the Duttas.
Then there is the alluring neighbourhood. Multiple outcrops of the Aravalli Hills offer the prospect of scenic treks for those feeling active. The area also offers paragliding or horseback riding and even a hot air balloon ride for breathtaking views of the picturesque countryside. Sohna is famous for its Sulphur Hot Springs. The nearby Damdama Lake offers water sports such as boating and kayaking. It’s priced at Rs30-55k a night, while the packages are extra and bookable through SecondAct.
