HCLSoftware, a global leader in enterprise software solutions, is betting big on the rapidly-growing Indian market. The Noida-headquartered software products and solutions company, with global footprint across 132 countries and serving over 20,000 customers, has chalked out a comprehensive plan to significantly expand its business on its home turf.

The $1.41-billion HCL group company, catering to 300 customers across sectors, like BFSI, government segments, healthcare, manufacturing, retail & consumer goods and technology & software, is looking to expand its India business to 7-10 per cent of its global business in the next 4-5 years, from the present 2 per cent. In fact, India represents a key growth market for HCLSoftware’s global expansion and the company is investing heavily to strengthen its regional presence.

HCLSoftware’s robust software portfolio enables digital transformation for over 400 government customers globally, including 40 in India. It is building a resilient digital future for governments globally, with a focus on robust digital public infrastructure, which enhances citizen engagement, strengthens security and enables data-driven citizen solutions.

“India is a strategic market for us and we are fully prepared to explore the opportunities with all relevant products and solutions,” says Vikrant Chowdhary, senior vice-president & country head, India. “While we are a six-year-old company, we are really the largest company from India to globe of that scale and portfolio. We are trusted by the largest public sector bank in India, the largest private bank in India, the largest pharma company in India, the largest reservation system in India and one of the leading Maharatna oil & gas companies. We are represented and trusted by a whole suite of ecosystems, which speaks of our product offering and its relevance”.

“As the country is transitioning from a service nation to a product nation, we as a company is also geared up, with our ‘Make in India’ commitment to carry out the transition process among our customers,” adds Chowdhary, who joined the company in November last year. “Overall, we are quite bullish about the way we are setting up our goals in India. In fact, as India’s largest software company by intellectual property, we offer the best-in-class software products that empower organisations to achieve their goals with cutting edge solutions”.

Growth and innovation

Chowdhary leads HCLSoftware’s India region business for growth and innovation across India’s critical sectors, including enterprise, BFSI and government segments. He plays a key role in leading the company’s ‘Make in India’ commitment of being the largest India-based global enterprise software products company.

Chowdhary brings more than 27 years of leadership experience to HCLSoftware, with a proven track record of success in scaling technology-driven businesses. His expertise across ‘go-to-market’ strategy, team leadership and technology for enterprise & financial services, are pivotal for the company’s strategic expansion in India’s growth market.

With a $6-billion strategic investment over the past years, the company, a division of HCLTech, has built a comprehensive software portfolio of 75+ products that serves 400+ government agencies globally. In India, the company has a total clientele of over 300 customers. In 2019, HCLTech strategically acquired business applications and select industry-leading products from IBM. This acquisition marked the launch of HCLSoftware.

The company’s solutions are built on a foundation of seven pillars. In business & industry applications, industry-specific solutions were designed to streamline operations and maximise efficiency while, in total experience, solutions improved customer and employee experience across the entire journey. HCLSoftware’s data & analytics solutions are powerful tools that unlock the value of customers’ data and gain actionable insights. HCL’s AI and Intelligent Operations solutions allow enterprises to leverage AI to automate tasks, improve decision-making and optimise performance.

Moreover, the sovereign collaboration solutions prioritises data autonomy with secure, flexible solutions for sensitive information, while the cyber-security products protect enterprise business from evolving threats with robust security solutions. Besides, the company also has specialised best-in-class software solutions that address specific business needs.

Vodafone Idea (Vi) has recently partnered with HCLSoftware, to make its 4G and 5G networks smarter and more efficient. Vi is now using HCL Augmented Network Automation, a multi-vendor self-optimising network platform, to manage its Ericsson and Samsung networks. This advanced technology will help Vi improve network performance, save energy, and offer better services to its customers. Earlier, in April 2024, SBI had selected HCLSoftware for the latter’s MarTech solution as part of the bank’s digital transformation programme.
