To boost its market share in the premium segment and provide the latest technological features, Samsung has launched the Galaxy Z Flip7 – a compact AI phone with multimodal capabilities. From intuitive voice AI to best-in-class selfie performance, the Galaxy Z Flip7 is an intelligent, pocket-sized companion built for seamless interaction and everyday reliability.

“Galaxy Z Flip7 is proof that big intelligence can come in a small, pocket-sized form factor,” said TM Roh, President and Acting Head of the Device eXperience (DX), Samsung Electronics. “By bringing rich multimodal AI capabilities and seamless functionality to the FlexWindow, we’ve created a device that adapts, anticipates, and empowers users, unlocking a smarter, more intuitive way to engage with the world.”

Content spills elegantly from edge to edge on the Galaxy Z Flip7’s FlexWindow display, which brings essentials front and centre, making it easy to type quick messages, check schedules at a glance, and snap high-quality selfies. The Galaxy Z Flip7 is crafted for portability and places powerful performance right in the palm of the user’s hand. With its compact size and sleek silhouette, it slips effortlessly into a small pocket or handbag. Weighing just 188 grams and measuring only 13.7 mm when folded, the Galaxy Z Flip7 is the slimmest Galaxy Z Flip yet. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protects both the cover and back. With the largest battery ever in the Galaxy Z Flip series, it offers enough additional power to watch a film. Users can stream music or listen to podcasts during long commutes, edit photos on the move, and share updates throughout the day.

Gemini Live is now available directly on the FlexWindow, enabling users to search for information using their voice and complete tasks with ease. Users preparing for an overseas trip can simply tell Gemini what they need – it can pull up flight details from Samsung Wallet, set a reminder for when to leave for the airport, and even find top-rated restaurants at the destination.

“Your smartphone must be a companion capable of understanding context, anticipating intent, supporting you in real time, and adapting to your lifestyle. You need a device that is powerful, with high-quality performance and the ability to deliver AI features that elevate your life,” explains Soon Choi, Head, MX Business, Samsung India. “We are seeing something entirely new – intelligence that can understand language, audio, and visuals all at once. It is a shift in how we interact with technology. With innovative leaders to drive the industry forward, we are proud to share that we collaborated with Google and continue to work with Google to bring the best mobile experiences to the entire Android ecosystem,” adds Choi.

Bringing the foldable experience to more users, Samsung also announced the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE. Compact when folded and expansive when opened, the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE features a 6.7-inch Main Display for an immersive viewing experience. The 50MP FlexCam enables high-quality selfies and video in Flex Mode, letting users capture content hands-free, without even opening the device. Samsung Care+ offers comprehensive coverage for accidental damage, repairs, and replacements.

“Unfold a world where you can talk. It is something you have always been waiting for, something you have always wanted. We are introducing the all-new Galaxy Z Fold. When you hold the phone in your hand, it’s even lighter than a coffee mug,” says Aditya Babbar, VP, MX Business, Samsung India.

Forecast for the market

India’s smartphone market entered 2025 on a cautious note. According to Canalys (now part of Omdia), smartphone shipments in India fell 8 per cent year-on-year in Q1 2025, totalling 32.4 million units. Vivo retained the top spot with 7 million units shipped and a 22 per cent market share, further widening its lead. Samsung shipped 5.1 million units, while Xiaomi followed with 4 million units, securing third place with a 12 per cent market share. Apple achieved its best-ever Q1 in India, driven by the strong performance of the iPhone 16 series.

“Despite starting the quarter with elevated inventory and a 23 per cent year-on-year drop in total shipments, Samsung witnessed 5 per cent annual growth, driven by premium momentum and conversational AI features. For both brands, ecosystem stickiness and premium-led channel execution will be key strategic levers in the coming quarters,” says Sanyam Chaurasia, Senior Analyst, Canalys. With its aggressive product launches, Samsung is well positioned to increase its market share.
