Data is the new currency in today’s business landscape, with two-thirds of executives participating in a survey seeing artificial intelligence (AI) as a crucial element for their business’s future. Yet, AI alone is not a silver bullet, its true potential emerges when paired with human expertise. GTT Data Solutions, a BSE-listed firm, is championing this philosophy through its Dual Intelligence model, seamlessly integrating machine-driven insights with human decision-making.

With ambitious plans to rapidly scale up within the next five years, GTT Data is expanding its operations and setting its sights beyond India. Leading the charge is a formidable leadership team comprising Ganesh Natarajan (chairperson), Pankaj Samani (managing director), Gopal Patwardhan (CEO), Srikumar (president, data, AI & software) and Vijay Jog (strategic advisor). Together, they are positioning GTT Data as a pioneer in AI-driven enterprise transformation, ensuring businesses don’t just collect data but turn it into meaningful, actionable insights.

For many enterprises, AI adoption remains fraught with challenges, particularly due to the complexities of unstructured and unreliable data. “Before implementing AI, businesses must first ask: Is our data clean enough? Is it structured and orchestrated at the right level?” says Ganesh Natarajan. “Even globally, many companies still face challenges in optimising their data ecosystems. Over the past 15 years, we have seen this issue persist in the US, Europe and India. Our role is to ensure that organisations address these gaps before adopting AI-driven solutions.”

“Without a solid data foundation, even the most sophisticated AI models fail to deliver meaningful results,” he adds. “GTT Data’s Dual Intelligence approach tackles this by prioritising data governance and human expertise alongside AI-powered automation, ensuring that artificial intelligence is not merely processing raw data but delivering contextual, high-value insights. Rather than positioning AI as a replacement for human intelligence, GTT Data emphasises its role as an enabler – enhancing decision-making, improving efficiency and driving enterprise transformation”.

The company’s multi-layered approach extends from CXOs to entry-level employees, embedding AI into workflows at every level. With 80 per cent of its revenue derived from technology solutions and 20 per cent from skills and learning, GTT Data remains committed to both developing AI-driven solutions and fostering a workforce equipped to leverage them effectively.

Acquisition advantage

To accelerate its vision, GTT Data has made two key acquisitions – CRG Solutions and Alpharithm Technologies – which significantly enhance its capabilities in data analytics and digital transformation. CRG Solutions, a well-established player in business intelligence (BI), strengthens GTT Data’s ability to help enterprises harness and interpret their data. Alpharithm Technologies, on the other hand, brings deep expertise in data engineering, governance and AI implementation.

Together, these acquisitions position GTT Data as a one-stop enterprise transformation partner, seamlessly integrating AI-driven insights with real-world business applications. Furthering its commitment to workforce development, GTT Data has also signed a R9 crore licensing deal with Seed Infotech to expand AI and data analytics training, ensuring professionals across industries are given the requisite skills to succeed.

Financially, these moves are expected to bolster GTT Data’s revenue growth, with the integration of the acquired companies generating about R180 crore in 2023-24 and a projected R160-200 crore in 2024-25. Today, 90 per cent of GTT Data’s revenue comes from India but, by 2030, the company aims to shift this ratio to 60 per cent overseas and 40 per cent domestic. This global pivot will see GTT Data aggressively expanding into markets such as the US, Southeast Asia and Europe, where demand for AI-powered business solutions is on the rise.

The company is also keeping an eye on the competitive tech landscape, anticipating challenges from big strategy firms, Big Four consulting giants and IT services companies. However, GTT Data believes its niche positioning in Dual Intelligence will set it apart. To support this expansion, the company is ramping up hiring, with plans to grow its marketing and strategy teams and expand its development centres in Chennai, Pune, Mumbai and Sangli. Additional centres may be set up, based on customer demand and market concentration.

GTT Data Solutions is now focussed on friction-free scaling and aligning leadership strategies. Its immediate priorities include strengthening its presence in BFSI, manufacturing, retail and healthcare, exploring further acquisition opportunities in the US and developing organic growth strategies for both India and overseas markets.

As AI continues to evolve at a rapid pace, the fundamental challenge remains: how to translate data into real business impact. With its Dual Intelligence model, strategic acquisitions and ambitious expansion plans, GTT Data Solutions is not just navigating this challenge, it is leading the way.
