Defining innovation, the Ultraviolette way

Ultraviolette’s newest launch, X-47 merges safety with performance

India’s electric two-wheeler journey began with YObykes in 2006, but the electric motorcycle market truly emerged in 2019 with Revolt RV400’s 150 km-range urban commuter. From FY2022 to FY2024, the number of electric motorcycles launched remained moderately low due to the focus on early capture of the electric scooter market or the lack of R&D in electric motorcycles. However, in FY25, the number of new launches in this segment more than doubled. Bengaluru-based electric vehicle pioneer Ultraviolette stands out in the premium segment, focusing on performance and global goals.

Ultraviolette was founded with a vision to craft electric vehicles that combine futuristic designs with precision engineering. The company has pushed technological boundaries with the launch of the X-47 Crossover. It has successfully upgraded a generation of its model within 12 months, establishing itself as a global leader in intelligent electric mobility solutions. Ultraviolette has expanded its sales coverage from a single outlet in one city to 30 cities within a year. Its flagship model, the F77, is supplied from India and Nepal to nearly 10 countries in Europe.

The X-47 Crossover is the world’s first commercially available motorcycle with integrated radar technology as standard equipment. Infused with aviation DNA, the X-47 represents an evolution in Ultraviolette’s product line-up for the Indian market. The X-47 is engineered and built for everyday riders, thrill-seekers, and enthusiasts alike.

Ultraviolette’s proprietary UV HyperSense system employs sixth-generation long-range radar (77GHz) that monitors up to 200 metres behind the vehicle, adapting intelligently to lean angles of up to 20 degrees. Ultraviolette’s UV HyperSense marks a watershed moment for motorcycle safety, bringing automotive-grade radar intelligence to two-wheelers for the first time. This technology brings the safety of a car to the comfort of a motorcycle.

The safety suite includes blind-spot monitoring, lane change assist, overtake alert, and rear collision warning. Complementing the radar system is an advanced dual-camera dashcam with 1080p recording, an emergency video lock feature, and 32GB of expandable storage – another industry first for production motorcycles.

Narayan Subramaniam, CEO and Co-founder of Ultraviolette, commented: “At Ultraviolette, innovation defines everything we do. With that vision, we have introduced the world’s first radar and camera-integrated motorcycle. The fighter jet-inspired X-47 represents a fusion of cutting-edge technology, advanced safety systems and precision engineering that redefines what riders can expect from electric mobility.”

Positioned between premium electric scooters and performance motorcycles, the X-47 creates a new ‘electric crossover’ category. With deliveries beginning in October 2025 in India and in global markets in 2026, Ultraviolette aims to democratise advanced rider safety technology while showcasing Indian engineering prowess.

Niraj Rajmohan, CTO and Co-founder of Ultraviolette, added: “With the X-47, we have reimagined what an electric motorcycle can deliver by introducing industry-first innovations like radar-powered rider assistance systems, an advanced dual-camera dashcam suite, and our in-house-developed onboard charger with an industry-first innovation of parallel boost charging.”

Ultraviolette has developed the world’s most power-dense air-cooled onboard charger, supporting both Type 2 AC (16A) and Type 6 fast charging. The revolutionary Parallel Boost Charging system – developed entirely in-house – combines the onboard charger with a portable unit to halve charging times. Remarkably, the system maintains full performance even in extreme temperatures of up to 50 degrees.

Developed in-house with a vertically integrated design approach, Ultraviolette introduces an industry-first innovation, ‘Parallel Charging’. Through this innovation, the parallel charger works in tandem with the onboard charger, thereby doubling the combined charging power output and reducing charging time by 50 per cent.

Advanced features

The X-47’s 5-inch TFT display works in tandem with the VIOLETTE AI ecosystem, offering Movement/Fall/Towing alerts, remote lockdown capability, anti-collision warnings, and nine levels of regenerative braking with Dynamic Stability Control. An optional Performance Pack adds advanced features such as hill-hold control and dynamic traction management.

The Ultraviolette X-47’s launch represents more than just another electric vehicle – it marks India’s arrival as a serious player in high-performance electric mobility. Priced aggressively at R2,49,000 as an introductory offer for the first 5,000 customers, following initial bookings for 3,000 units in the first 24 hours, the company’s expectation is a 10,000-unit sales target in the current financial year.

By combining world-class engineering with aggressive pricing, Ultraviolette has created a product that challenges global superbike manufacturers on both performance and technology fronts. The X-47 Crossover doesn’t just advance electric mobility: it reimagines what riders should expect from two-wheelers in terms of safety, performance, and intelligent design, firmly establishing India as a hub for EV innovation.
