From startup to logistics giant: Shadowfax's journey to transforming E-Commerce in India

Shadowfax is poised for a strong growth journey

Bengaluru-based Shadowfax Technologies Limited (STL) is a new-age, technology-led third-party logistics (3PL) company that operates one of the country’s most extensive logistics networks, covering 2,500 cities and 16,372 Indian pin codes as of 30 September 2026.

Incorporated in 2015, Shadowfax has built a diversified service portfolio spanning forward express deliveries, parcel delivery, reverse pickups and hand-to-hand exchange deliveries, same-day intracity and next-day intercity deliveries, quick commerce, hyperlocal deliveries, mobility solutions, critical logistics and dark-store operations. The company has also expanded its value-added offerings through solutions such as Prime and Shadowfax360, purpose-built for D2C brands and SMEs. Leading brands, including Nykaa, Myntra, AJIO, Meesho, Mokobara and Dot & Key, rely on STL to deliver their products nationwide. The company has delivered more than 200 crore shipments to date.

As part of its expanding logistics infrastructure, STL’s new automated processing hub at OneNCR, Haryana, is designed to address the increasingly complex logistics requirements of India’s growing e-commerce ecosystem. The facility can process up to 48,000 shipments per hour.

Today, only 7-8 per cent of India’s e-commerce takes place online, compared with 40 per cent in South Korea, 30 per cent in China and 20 per cent in the US. “We have a very strong conviction that India’s e-commerce will hit 14-15 per cent over the next 3-5 years, which essentially means that all of us can order increasingly online moving forward. Now, it can happen in the quick commerce way, the e-commerce way, and in some other new ways of ordering, but it will happen,” explains Abhishek Bansal, MD and CEO of STL. Bansal has played a key role in building and scaling the company’s technology-driven logistics network across India.

Merchants can only sell online if they have a very reliable, low-cost sort of service, which gives them a democratic sort of access in selling anywhere in the country

“Our whole idea is to build an extremely competitive, high-quality, low-cost logistics network, which can enable any merchant in this country to effectively sell online. Merchants can only sell online if they have a very reliable, low-cost sort of service, which gives them a democratic sort of access in selling anywhere in the country. We are a new-age logistics company, whose whole idea is to ensure that India reaches that sort of a healthy double-digit digital penetration,” adds Bansal.

Huge potential

With its technology platform integrated into its processing hubs, STL is equipped to deliver a range of services to customers at their doorsteps, including food delivery, quick commerce and e-commerce. The company expects India’s e-commerce market to continue growing at an annual rate of 18-20 per cent. STL aims to outpace the market and believes there is considerable potential to gain market share.

“When we started the initial operations, I was 24. We have built all of this from the ground up. We did not have any family support and don’t come from families where they put in money and do things. Vaibhav Khandelwal and I put in R5 lakhs of our own, R3 lakhs we borrowed from some of our people, and that is how we started the business. Imagine, like, 24- and 22-year-old, two kids, out of college, we ended up raising huge capital. Seven years back, I don’t think anybody in this country would have said that we would be the second largest third-party logistics company in the country, beating a lot of people who were ahead of us at that time,” recalls Bansal.

STL recently announced the launch of its Channel Partner Programme, expanding Shadowfax360 beyond its digital self-service model into an assisted distribution network. The company plans to onboard 1,000 channel partners across Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities over the next 3 years, with a strategic focus on Tier 2 cities and key manufacturing clusters. The initiative will enable SMEs and offline-first businesses to access logistics services and assisted onboarding closer to where they operate. Partners can get started without investing in infrastructure or inventory, while STL manages pickups and deliveries across its network of 16,372 pin codes.

The company will continue investing in network expansion, additional capacity and entry into new locations to support its next phase of growth. With the festival season running from Ganesh Chaturthi and Navratri through Diwali and the New Year, STL is betting on strong demand and is gearing up to seize the opportunity. “The best of STL story is still ahead of us,” concludes a confident Bansal.
