When decorating her own home, Chhavi Singh, the founder of Nestroots, realised something important – there was a noticeable gap in the furniture market. “Everything seemed either outdated, too generic, or simply lacked a unique touch,” she discloses, as she wanted pieces that were functional, stylish, and affordable but could not find anything that truly matched her needs or taste. That’s when the idea for Nestroots was born.

She set out to create a brand that brought together elegance, functionality, and affordability, offering beautifully designed furniture that catered to the needs and tastes of modern Indian homes without compromising on quality or durability. So, she named the company Nestroots. “Nest evokes a sense of warmth, comfort, and the feeling of being at home. Roots symbolises the foundation of a home. Nestroots helps you set up your roots with its unique design and functional philosophy,” she adds.

At Nestroots, “our vision is to redefine home décor and furniture by combining premium quality with exceptional design. We draw inspiration from India’s rich cultural heritage while embracing modern aesthetics, creating pieces that resonate globally. Our commitment to sustainability ensures that every product reflects our respect for the environment,” adds Singh as she aspires to make Nestroots a global name. “We focus on innovation and craftsmanship, delivering not just furniture but a lifestyle.”

At Nestroots, they understand that strong operations and an efficient supply chain are crucial for delivering quality home décor and furniture. “Our commitment to technology integration allows us to streamline processes, enhance inventory management, and improve customer experiences. By leveraging data analytics and automation, we ensure timely deliveries and optimise our resources. We aim to provide not just exceptional products, but also a seamless shopping experience,” says Shekhar Godiyal, the co-founder of the company.

Eyeing exports

From day one, Nestroots was listed on Amazon and other marketplaces, and the first client came from Goa. “We sell our pieces through our website and major marketplaces. This approach allows us to reach homes across the country. In addition, we are expanding into the B2B segment and will launch a dedicated website this February to cater to business clients. This is significant because, in India, especially in this segment, the market is unorganised. In addition to these, we will be launching our exports division, bringing our designs to international markets,” say the duo.

“I recently discovered Nestroots. Every piece I have purchased is not only beautifully designed but also crafted with impeccable quality. From décor accents to functional essentials, their collection feels thoughtfully curated for every kind of space,” says Muskan. “I love this barrel side table from Nestroots. The quality is top-notch and looks perfect in my living room,” adds Komal Yadav, another customer.

Our commitment to technology integration allows us to streamline processes, enhance inventory management, and improve customer experiences

In today’s fast-paced world of quick commerce, Nestroots is dedicated to staying ahead of the curve by anticipating and meeting the evolving needs of modern customers. “We are live on Blinkit, with plans to expand our product range on the platform to ensure even greater convenience. Looking ahead, we are excited to introduce innovative additions to our collection. This includes a thoughtfully designed furniture line for pets, created for pet parents who seek both style and functionality,” says Singh.

“Additionally, we are developing a dedicated range of kids’ furniture-pieces that are not only practical and beautiful but can also grow with children and become cherished keepsakes over time. At Nestroots, we remain committed to blending innovation with purpose, bringing thoughtful design to every aspect of your home,” says Godiyal.

So far, Nestroots has raised a total of approximately $522,000 across four funding rounds from eight investors. In June 2021, it secured $100,000 in a seed round. Then, in January 2023, it raised $60,600 from angel investors, and in December 2023, it completed a later-stage venture capital round. Now, it is planning a Series A funding round. In terms of revenue, the company is targeting R30 crore for the fiscal year 2025, maintaining a strong EBITDA.

Going forward, Nestroots has outlined several strategic initiatives to drive future growth, including product line expansion. “We have plans to broaden our product offerings by venturing into new categories such as sofas, beds, wall décor, kids’ furniture, and larger furniture items. Besides geographical expansion, we aim to establish a presence in international markets, including the US, Canada, and the UAE. In terms of offline presence, the brand is enhancing its footprint by opening experience centres and shop-in-shops at various retail outlets, providing customers with tangible interactions with our products,” sums up Singh.
