Borzo (formerly WeFast), a leading global player in the online intra-city delivery platform space for businesses and individuals, is betting big on the rapidly growing Indian market. With over 2 million customers and operations in five countries, including Brazil, Mexico, Indonesia and Turkey, the company entered India in 2016 as WeFast and later rebranded itself as Borzo, as it did globally in 2021. Today, it generates more than 60 per cent of its revenue from India, operating in over 23 cities, with a strong presence in Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
India’s significance can be gauged from the fact that, in June 2024, the company decided to relocate its global headquarters from Amsterdam to Mumbai, its largest market within India, with over 50 per cent share, followed by Delhi and Pune. Today, India is by far its largest market. It contributes 60-65 per cent of its total GMV (gross merchandise value) and accounts for 78 per cent of all deliveries. About 90 per cent of its 375,000-odd active clients globally are based in India; its India operating profit margin has been 10 per cent for the last four quarters; and the average quarterly GMV in India is hovering around R50 crore. Moreover, the company also has about 40,000 active riders monthly in India.
Having grown at about 15 per cent in 2024 in Mumbai, the company, competing with players like Porter and others, is now looking to close 2025 with a growth of about 25 per cent. Most importantly, the Indian business for Borzo turned profitable in 2024, while, at the global level, it is expected to turn around in 2026.
“India is not just our largest market, it is our most dynamic growth frontier,” says Alina Kisina, CEO, Borzo. “We are also deeply committed to empowering India’s SME ecosystem by pairing our global delivery intelligence with a hyper-local, AI-driven approach. With smarter logistics and tailored solutions, the company is not just accelerating deliveries, but also boosting business growth across the country”.
A core component of Borzo’s strategy is empowering the thriving SME ecosystem. The service specialises in intra-city same-day delivery, often within 90 minutes, making it an attractive option for local businesses and individuals. Borzo is integrating advanced AI to streamline operations, enhance product precision and offer reliable, affordable 24x7 delivery services. It also provides insurance coverage for packages up to R50,000, offering peace of mind to users. The platform connects customers with couriers (who use motorcycles, cycles, etc) via an algorithm that optimises for cost, speed, and route.
The company’s delivery app, available on Web, Android and iOS – offers a wide range of services including on-demand and scheduled deliveries, multi-point drops, and real-time tracking. Whether delivering documents, parcels, flowers or e-commerce packages, Borzo provides cost-effective, app-based logistics that eliminate the complexity of in-house delivery management for SMEs.

“While we don’t offer a separate, tailor-made product exclusively for SMEs, our entire technology platform is built with their needs at the core,” affirms Kisina. “For example, we provide slot-based deliveries, which bring predictability to the process, allowing SMEs to select the optimal delivery time windows. This directly increases order completion rates and, in retail, a completed order is essentially a purchase, which is a win for any SME. The other point is to offer different vehicle types based on the parcel profile”.
“One of our competitive advantages is offering insurance and Cash on Delivery – a service not all players in the market provide and one that remains crucial for many small businesses,” adds the Borzo CEO. “Additionally, for SMEs that are highly price-sensitive but less concerned about speed, we offer ‘End-of-the-Day Delivery’, a significantly more affordable option. This flexibility means SMEs can optimise both cost and customer satisfaction depending on their priorities. In terms of service, rapid order assignment and pick up are also important for the clients”.
With nearly two decades of experience across logistics, sales, and e-commerce, Kisina is a proven leader known for building high-performing sales teams and achieving consistent revenue growth. She strongly believes in aiming for a robust and sustainable growth path, aligned with Borzo’s mission and has held several pivotal leadership roles across renowned organisations – such as Gett Delivery, Lamoda group, e-Solutions and DHL. At DHL Global Forwarding and DHL eCommerce Russia, she had played a critical role in driving strategic sales initiatives and customer engagement.
