ICFAI Business School (IBS) Hyderabad is a faculty of management of The ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (IFHE), with a ‘deemed to be university’ status under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 and A+ Grade from NAAC and autonomous status from the University Grants Commission. Since inception in 1995, IBS has grown impressively and achieved widespread recognition from business and industry, academic circles and professional bodies.
The innovative case method pedagogy followed by IBS Hyderabad has been instrumental in IFHE getting the ‘deemed to be university’ status in 2008. Today, IBS Hyderabad has one of the largest campuses in India, with 5,000 students and 200 faculty members. Diversity of student population is ensured with an equal ratio of female and male students and representation from all the 28 states of India.
AACSB: IBS Hyderabad received the AACSB Accreditation, the highest standard of recognition for business schools worldwide, in February 2020. The accreditation confirms its commitment to high quality and continuous improvement of the management programmes through rigorous and comprehensive peer review. IBS Hyderabad is the only business school in the country to receive AACSB accreditation for its BBA, MBA and PhD programmes.
SAQS Accreditation: In 2006, IBS became the first business school in South Asia to be accredited by SAQS. It was re-accredited in 2012 and in 2020.
NIRF Ranking 2020: IBS Hyderabad was ranked 25th under the Management Schools Category by NIRF in 2020 (26th in 2019) It is also ranked high by CRISIL (A**) and ICRA (E B2).
Quality of the faculty: IBS recruits, trains, nurtures and retains quality faculty members for long-term sustenance of its academic and research programmes, who bring in innovative educational methodologies, as also creative course content and deliver curriculum with passion and commitment. They are also involved in intensive research work, leading to publication of valuable research output in international journals. They participate in international and national conferences organised by reputed institutions. Various departments also conduct national and international conferences, colloquia, research seminars, workshops, etc. IBS conducts an annual doctoral thesis conference, inviting research scholars from across India.
Doctoral programme: IBS’s doctoral programme produces high-quality research scholars and research publications. The PhD programme combines the rigours of research methodology of the western world, with enough relevance to Indian business challenges. So far, more than 75 students have been awarded PhD degrees.
Case approach: The Case Research Centre of IBS is a member of the Case Centre, UK, the largest case repository in the world. It ranks among the world’s top three contributors to the repository, next only to Harvard and INSEAD, with more than 100 AACSB accredited schools using its case studies, which are taught in no fewer than 870 schools across 75 countries – such as INSEAD, Columbia University, University of California-Berkeley, Johns Hopkins, London Business School, ISB, Oxford and Cambridge. Also, more than 100 cases have been published as part of standard international textbooks and case volumes. The Case Centre of IBS has also received awards from organisations such as Maxwell School of Governance, Syracuse University, New York; China Europe International Business School; Oikos International, Switzerland and EFMD in Brussels.
Internship: IBS’ students of MBA go through hands-on experiential learning during a three-month rigorous internship, supervised by the company representatives and a faculty member. The internship exposes them to corporate environment and makes them future-ready.
Alumni: IBS Hyderabad has an alumni base of about 16,700 students, pursuing careers with more than 1,000 companies in India and abroad. This extensive and fast-growing alumni network is one of the strengths of IBS. The alumni take active part in their alma mater’s activities through the IBS Alumni Federation.
Placements: IBS has an impeccable track record of achieving excellent placements every year, with top companies visiting the campus to recruit students. IBS has adopted a systematic approach towards building the careers of its students through a Career Management Centre (CMC) that plans and implements the placement activities through the year. CMC personnel have developed strong industry ties, which help in finding the right recruiters and in helping the students with suitable career planning.
Other activities: Students are encouraged to participate in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for holistic development. IBS provides a platform for such development through 30 student clubs.
